How to feed oyster shell?

M hens are about to lay soon and I will need oyster shell, so what is the best way to provide that for them and when should you provide it?

Just put it out in a bowl, separate from their layer feed. They will eat it if they need it.

We mix it in with their food. There also might be instructions on the bag on how to give it to them

my birds free-range so I don't provide oyster shell. I just feed them back the old egg shells. On the rare times I have used it, I just throw it on the ground and they pick at it if they want. Usually they would look at it, pick it up and then drop it on the ground and go on looking for treats.
