alright ive got the two free rangers wrangled and in theyre newly built coup and im about to head out for feed and figure out a way to make a autofeeder, right now my question is do i need to buy/make a seperate feeder for they oyster shell or can i just throw it down with the scratch and let them have at it?

I have a proper feeder for food but when it comes to grit and shell(my girls are too young to lay yet)... I use leftover/washed out tuna fish cans or whatever is available in my recycling bin.

I like to put it in a little dish for my own convenience, so I can keep an eye on how much they're consuming and whether I need to add more.

I do the same as elmo. I put the oyster shell in a little dish carefully located so they don't jump on it and knock it over. Then I can see how much they are eating and fill it back it up when I need to.
