This question is for those of you who feed yoghurt to your birds: How do you do it? The times that I've done it, I've put in on yoghurt container lids, feeder pans, etc and they seem to have difficulty getting it all because of its consistency. They peck and peck but can't seem to get much. I've even tried holding the spoon for them. They leave a lot. Do you just put it on the ground or on top of their regular food or . . .?

Thanks
Mary

I mix 2 to 3 big soup spoons to maybe 1/4 cup feed and put it in a bowl. They really eat it up that way

see that pyrex dish in the run...4 oz size.....well it was filled with yogurt about 2 min before that...at first they buried their whole heads in the dish, but now are more civilized....when its close to empty they roll it all around the run until it all comes out....very fun to watch.

I mix it in a small bowl with enough of their starter just to moisten it. They usually dive in.

Just found out, though, that they're picky about their brand! I found some plain yogurt on sale so bought the 10 containers required to get the savings - guess what - they don't like this kind! Stuck with a lot of yogurt now!

I put the bowl down and then get the heck out of the way!
My hens are experts at getting every last bite out of the bowl.

Mine love it straight.

If one doesn't, you can mix it and some water in a cup. Use that to moisten some crumbles. Mix well, let set for 10 minutes, then feed that. That way you can sneak it to them.

Okay I guess I'm the odd one out because I serve the yogurt on a paper plate. I was using a bowl, but noticed they had to fight to get their share, so I divide the plate into fourths and put a heaping spoonful in each section.

When they are finished it leaves a nice pattern on the plate too. The other day they left a shape of a heart. I was thinking how can I market this as chicken art.
