I have been wanting to get hens that lay blue/green/olive colored eggs however it seems that all the birds I have been offered or seen, lay colored eggs that are so pale its barely noticable that they are colored at all. Where can I find a local/semi-local (I'm in Maine) supplier who's hen's tend to produce more darker/colorfully tinted eggs?? I want to sell eggs that will wow people :)

Are some breeds known for richer colored, colored eggs....???

Ameracana= blue and green(olive)???
Aracana= blue?
EasterEgger= pale pastel blue???
Marans/welsummers= chocolate??

Or is it rare for a hen to lay the richer colored eggs?

Thanks...

Ameraucanas and Araucanas lay ONLY blue eggs. EE lay the green eggs and just about anything else.

First year layers also lay deeper shaded eggs. The overall color can fade as the hen lays more. It can rejuvenate some after a molt, but I've found that a four year old hen lays paler eggs overall than a first year layer, regardless of color.
