How to fluff up chick that has dried egg yolk on her

I also had a chick with a ruptured yolk sack about a week, or two ago. It was sticky with yolk.

It was able to absorb it's intestines into the stomach cavity, thankfully before I assisted it. The chick was to weak, & too large for it's shell to do any zipping.
I believe this one also had absorbed its intestines. It stalled out zipping as well. How's your chick doing now?

It's ok. If she's fine right now she didn't aspirate or anything. I would offer her some water with some electrolytes or nutridrench in it if you have any. Tomorrow though, she'll be fine until tomorrow. Dip her bill in a dish of water, and then tip her up. She'll swallow and she may go back for another drink on her own.

Thanks. And I'll try the wet toothbrush tomorrow. I don't have any electrolytes or nutridrench. I may have a pedialyte popsicle in the freezer, maybe a little of that?

It's probably fine. You would have to make sure it's iron-free, not too old, etc. it's probably not really worth the hassle. It should be fine. I just recommend it because it can help boost them a bit. You can do a bit of sugar water.

This poor thing. She's the last in the incubator and very lonely, but I can't get her fluffed up! I took the warm water and toothbrush to her earlier and dipped her hiney in some warm water because she's got a little pasty butt. I brushed her all over except on the belly because I'm afraid of dislodging something that's still trying to heal! This is after she spent the afternoon drying (other than her butt, where I'd just cleaned the vent again and put some Vaseline on, but maybe that's best so you can see what she's got going on down there.)

Do I just try again with the toothbrush tomorrow?
