how to get 3 month old chickens to roost on roost?

our 3 month old chickens wanna lay on the floor at night instead of roosting, is there a way to get them to roost? Thanks

You can try slipping into the coop after dark when they have settled down for the night and lift each one onto the roost. Do so for a few days....maybe a week...and eventually they will figure it out. Sometimes chickens have to be taught to use doors, ramps, roosts, etc. Hope that helps. Good luck.

How high is your roost? I find that my chickens will not want to sleep on the roosts if they are too low. To teach them to roost, if they haven't taught themselves already, just go in after they are ready to 'go to bed,' so to speak, and then put them on the highest roost. Just keep repeating like DancingHen suggested and they should get the idea.

Great, thanks for the input I acyually only have one roost about 3' high, today I'll bulid one of the ladder roost.
