I have 7 chicks that were brooded in a 55 gallon aquarium indoors. I have now finished the coop (whew... I have never built anything in my life). Now that the coop/run is finished, how do I get the new birds to roost? THey sleep on the floor.

I know, chickens are not dumb; they are training us humans to better caretakers

Thanks in advance,

It's OK if they sleep on the floor. If you want them up on the roost, try putting them on the roost after dark. or They may just decide eventually to roost up high. It might take a while. Good luck

They will get their groove.I Have some OE's I hatched at Xmas and one was roosting on brooder box at 2 weeks then another then another.I have one brooder of mixed bantam's and have lost 2 so far beacuse they are very flighty and one Duckwing flew out just as we got a rain a little dampness got in basement and it got chilled but was feather and just lost a millie fleur last night. Its not cold down there by no means maybe thinking go ahead move then to pen with hay with heat for chilly night's bit. They will definatley roost when they are ready. My OE's have made up minds they gonna sleep in rafter's Suprise lol least they safe there.
