how to get bearded silkies?

Hi......I am just starting to breed my silkies and I want the bearded variety. Do you have to breed a bearded rooster to a bearded hen in order to get a bearded chick? Can one of the parents be bearded and the other one not, and still get a bearded chick? Thanks for the help!

If you breed a bearded to a non-bearded, the chick would most likely have a very small beard. You get the best beards when both parents are bearded.

Yeah, I don't think there is just one gene that controls that trait, it will be a mix.
