How to get chuckars to lay in winter?

I've got a few chukars and was hoping to get some eggs from them during this winter. What does that take? Do they just need light or do I also have to keep them warm? And how warm?

Also, is making them lay hard on them? I know they need some rest, but I'm not sure how much they really need to not put too much of a strain on them. Honestly, I'm not sure what sex they are, so whatever I do I might not get any anyway! lol

How old are your birds? Are they young, or have they been in lay before? It is a good idea to allow birds to go through a molt in the fall, but once they are done you could supply supplemental light (NOT heat) to stimulate laying.

1, Put the lights on a timer to come on around 4:30-5 am until the sun is up - and allow them to go to bed with the twilight at night.
2. Secure any lights 3 ways, with wire or chain, NOT rope, twine or plastic ties, to reduce fire danger.
3. Place the light where the birds will not be able to jump or bump against it.

Hi, does anyone know whether chuckas and barbary partridge will lay under lights. I know my quail and chickens will but I didn't know if chukar had been domesticated enough to lay under lights.
