How to get hens to lay in cold weather

This is probably a strange cowinsadince but my production slowed in late october..and went down to 2 eggs a day from 20 hens... I treid everying thing changing feed,light..but then a month ago i decided to build some nice nestboxes up off the ground..and then they just started filling up with eggs...now im up to 13-16 eggs a day from 20 hens..I m happy!! dont know what did it.??

Maybe a coincidence once again but I started adding some red pepper to theri oatmeal and they have started laying more eggs again!

Are you talking like cooked oatmeal? How much oatmeal to how much cayenne pepper, and will that hurt them?

I add around 1 tbspn of pepper to a big pan of oatmeal. I hope it doesn't hurt them. I am not adding the pepper every day though.
