How to get started with quail such as bobwhite and california quail?

I know I need a license (i'm in california) but if I order eggs online what do I put in the "Breeder's name and address" section? Also, what is the bobwhite's specie code? There's a list of game birds with specie codes.

If your applying for the license, then you are the Breeder, so it's your name, address.
As far as species code that will be specific to California regulations, probably can find that by going on line to the DNR or whatever the licensing agency is in California.

If I apply for the license and the eggs haven't hatched, what do I put for the # of birds?

The license should have the number of birds you are allowed with a breeders permit. Most states permits are in the hundereds of birds for breeder permits. Commercial permits are in the thousands of birds allowed by permit.
