How to get your ducks to like you.

I'm having a bit of a problem. My Ducks do not feel comfortable around me anymore. When ever I pet them there heads start to shake and she tries to bite me. Also, I have a backyard that has a fence. Beyond the fence is a lake. ( which I do not own) why do they always lay by the fence. The sit there from morning till night.

They are longing for alot more water. lol nothing personal water fowl just love water. You do give them a pool when it's not too cold? Mine have a mountain river down below and I don't let mine go down to it they have kiddy pools and seem very happy.

As for your ducks not feeling comfortable it's not just yours most ducks would rather not be touched unless you have only one duck and you hatched it and it imprinted on you. I have only one, all the rest of my ducks do not like for me to touch them or pick them up and I respect that unless I have to treat them or clip a wing[Muscovy] It's just part of having ducks we get to have a nice relationship with them from a distance. Mine will eat out of my hand but that is as far as it goes. If I come outside and sit they will gather round but not to touch. Just my hand raised drake I can pick up and cuddle and smooch on.

My ducks like to lie near fences, too.

And they can go through a time where they get more shy. I found that treats and time with them helps.
