from washington state glad you joined us!

I've had good luck with placing my broody hens in what I call my broody cage/pen for 4 days. Just taking them away from there nesting area seems to change there hormone levels which is what causes them to become broody. I always make sure they are never alone in this pen because that would cause too much stress so I put them with another close friend/hen. Good luck!

A good way to "break" broodiness(I've had one go broody twice and another once!) is to make a "cage" for them with a perch and hardwear cloth on the bottom with food and water. This cage can either be in their coop in the outside or in a garage. It just makes it uncomfortable and cold for her to be "sitting" on eggs. However, chickens are birds so perching is no problem! This has worked 3X out of 3 for me!
