I am now facing two eggs with detatched aircells which Have miraculously survived up to day 16 my question is how do I best hatch them on their sides for lockdown on day 18 and also I have two broody hens waiting so if I hatch them in the incubator I need advice on how to sneak the baby chicks under the broody hen to make her feel she is the one who hatched them and hopefully she will not attack them

So far one pipped this afternoon then nothing 🤔
That's completely normal. It typically takes anywhere between 24 and 48 hours after externally pipping for them to zip, or hatch.

When externally pipping, the chick is moving onto the next step of hatching, which is the external pip, where they reach for more air than just the air in the air cell. All that does is allow them to breath constantly from that point on, because the rest takes a lot of work for the baby! During those 24-48 hours, the chick is absorbing his yolk sac, which gives him the needed nutrients, food, hydration and energy for the next 24 hours after hatching. As soon as he's finished absorbing, he starts zipping and completely hatches within the next 15 -30 minutes typically

Success one perfect little chick was waiting for me in the incubator when I woke up this am but sadly the other egg did not make it. I then introduced the chick to our Broody Apricot so far so good . She is a first time single mother 🐣 Off to work now hopefully they will bond and nature will take over 🤔👍🌸🌺
