how to heat water for chickens in winter?

im looking in to getting chickens and i wanna know how to heat water in the winter. so when its really cold the water wont melt.

. They make special water heaters for poultry waterers. You can probably find them at a feed store

At most pet shops, WalMart and other places, in fall, they will also sell large, dog watering dishes that are heated. I really like these. I just set an old ice cream bucket (hey, they're free!!) and set the little bucket in the dog dish. Works wonderfully. Have a couple pails and no messy with waterers in freezing temps. Just swap out the old pail for the fresh one.
