How to help my stubborn drake heal

Pics
It was cleared up for the past few weeks. He has a little discharge once again as of today. I made sure he was head dunking in the pool. I believe it's related to the swelling. The more pain he's in, the more trouble he has managing to stand up and drink.
Have you ever had any type of respiratory infection in your flock? I ask because mycoplasma synoviae can also cause swollen hocks. It's more common in chickens and turkeys, but waterfowl can get it too.

No respiratory infections. I've been lucky to avoid a great deal of infectious diseases. Never had respiratory infections, coccidiosis, or others... most of my birds that die usually die from organ failure or laying diseases. :(

I've never had a sick duck. They've been pretty lucky.

Opie had a bit of a temper tantrum when I put him in his cage... he spilled his food, and then he pooped in it. He plunged as much as his body as possible into the water, and made sure to splash it everywhere. Then he pooped in that too! He's now limping around in circles biting at the bars and hissing at any chicken that comes near.

He's not a happy duck. But his knee is gigantic and I know if I let him out he will find the most difficult places in the yard to walk and trip over every weed, hole, and piece of wood.

What a stinker. Once he settles down maybe add some B complex to his feed or water just to see if that helps along with everything else your doing for him.

They just don't know that resting is best for them.

I got the food today. He was lying down relaxing and had definitely drank and eaten a lot judging by the water level and the amount of poop. I opened the door and he turned around but didn't leave. Changed the feed out to the new stuff. Hopefully he'll eat it and see some improvement. I'll sprinkle some crushed B-complex over his feed tomorrow morning.

Today's had me wondering. It's very windy and the hens are extremely vocal (are your ducks more vocal on windy days or is it just mine) and Opie really wants to go outside. If I let him out an hour before they went inside so he could stretch and swim, but also he would be walking, would that be too much?

Today I came home and he was sleeping in his water bowl. His butt was hanging out because it's not big enough for him, but he was content.
