How to I make my chicken go broody?

I heard once that you can make a hen go broody by keeping her in a dark, confined area for several hours at a time daily. Pop some eggs in with her and you'll have a broody.

Its most likely easier for a hen to go broody using this method when the weather is warming up and the days are longer. This is their hormonal (?) peak because their bodies are preparing to begin making eggs again.

Have fun experimenting.

My hens seem to only need the temperature to be above about 40 degrees (I live in Wales) to decide to go broody.....they spend much of their lives that way,
