This person's daily postings are becoming irrational and very depressing. They have nothing to do with me, but who needs to hear that sort of toxic whining day after day. She's got a zillion friends, and doesn't need me, so I won't be hurting her by quietly dropping out of her sphere. (She was the friend of a friend of a friend; I've only met her twice, at big impersonal gatherings.)

Just tell me please what the procedure is to block this person's postings from appearing on my Facebook page.

Thanks. (Oh, and by the way, once I complete the blocking procedure, does she get notified that I've "unfriended" her? )

Go to her profile.

Click on where it says friends.

Scroll Down to Block.

Done.

No she does not get notified.

I just had this problem with my cousin. I did not unfriend her, but your can unsubscribe from their posts. Just go to their most recent post, and on the right hand side you should see a little drop down arrow. You can then select the "unsubscribe from all posts". It doe not show up on their page, so you are still their friend, but don;t have to see it all.

I hear people have this problem a lot. They have 200 friends and then start ranting about their political views.. anti-Obama or anti-conservative. It's like.. come on, buddy, you really think all 200 of your friends are going to share your same political views? Sometimes it's better to keep it to yourself.

You can also trim friends through your own friends list.
Just go to your profile, click 'Friends' and next to each persons name will be a drop menu with the option to unfriend them.
Blocking and hiding people does not unfriend them, it simply blocks their status updates from showing up and may keep them from contacting you.
They don't get notified, but they may notice if they ever look through their friend's list. If they have oodles of friends, one name missing probably won't matter, but if you unfriend a family member they may take notice.

Yep, there's an option for "unfriending" on your friend list next to the name. I like to keep my friend list neat (and very small... most people are surprised ), so it's something I use. They don't get notified about it. :)

Same here. If I don't really know the person I don't accept their friend request anyway. :p

If you have timeline, I just figured out that you go to your friends list, hover over their name, and then hover over the box with the check mark and "Friends." At the bottom of that dropdown list is the option to "unfriend." Not sure if it's the same process without timeline, but oh well. :)
