Chances are, he`s more successfull that he apears, but assuming your observations are correct, you did say he`s young. Most likely, the awkward learning stages will come to an end and he will be more successfull with maturity. In the mean time, you can trim the feathers around the vents of all concerned parties. Locate and feed a breeder ration, and add some good vitamin to his water. I recommend Red Cell, available in the equine section of your feed store. Mix it like weak tea and don`t overdo it.
