I hatched 4 chicks about 14 weeks ago. . Ended up with 2 girls and 2 boys. They have been raise completely with my 1 year old flock since they were born. I am going to give 1 girl to my sister. She has 4 girls and 1 Rooster ( little more than 1 year old).

We are not sure how to introduce them. She is the smallest of the 4 young ones. She has a small fenced in area for daytime, and we know the drill, let them see each other for some time...... but she has a small coop and not really enough room to put a cage in (to put young one in) for nighttime.

She thinks that she may bring her in the house at night... is that the right way to do this?

Any ideas for night time?

I don't know if this will help but I had to two Speckled sussex chicks to either the three hens I had in one run or the single Amerucuana that was by herself. Neither were all to interested in new comers. The AM was also a bully as well as the Delaware and California White. I decided that it may be easier to introduce to the single girl. I started by placing the little ones (about a month old or so, had all their feathers) in the run with the AM while supervising. Each day the time they were together was longer and longer and less supervised. When I figured the time was right I put the little ones in the coop at night after the others had been in the coop for a couple hours. The next morning there were no issues and they have been together ever since and I have had no issues.

We understand the intro part, but was looking for ideas of what to do with her at night and what experiences others had.

In house in a box? She has 1 stay in house (lived in extra bathroom) cuz she was sick, so maybe that set up? Should she bring one in to put with the new girl at night so she is not lonely?

It is the whole 'night' part when she is NOT around the others that we are unsure of.

She does not really have room to put her in a cage in coop at night, or has no other 'coop' to put her in.

It is nice when it goes smoothly!
