ok, so we have two female australian spotteds out in the duck pen. our last hatch we got a single (male i think). he has done well alone in the brooder with his stuffy, but it is time for him to move out! he is just a little over a month old. we are in the process of setting up a nursery section in the duck hut for this sort of situation, where they can see each other but not fight, but of course it is not done yet. i would really like him settled in and happy within the next three weeks before we go on vacation for a week. so, suggestions? so far, i have been taking him out and just sitting on the ground while he is out with them in case i need to referee. i know they need to establish a pecking order, so how much fighting do i allow? he is still a bit smaller than them, but not a ton. and he does kind of hiss back at them. but when they charge him he runs.
tia!

sounds good! i put my new 1's in a closed area and let them all check each other out before letting them be together. there is a lot of chasing some bitting and a few fights but i try to stay out of it unless it looks like someone might really get hurt. after a day or two of ignoring each other they usually become friends
