So, I have a set of 8 week old chicks and a duck, as well as fully grown (1 1/2 years old) 6 Hens and big bad rooster. My pen is set up with netting on the top, and the door open, but with wire up halfway, so that the big chickens can get in and out to range during the day. However, the "medium" chickens have just figured out how to escape, and today, one of them got eaten by a hawk.

So, i gathered ALL my chickens in the pen and shut the door. I also put up some CDs as i read that it keeps hawks away. However. my big chicks would not be confined to the cage, and busted out. I think ive fixed the problem, but you never know. I know that they will not be happy all locked up. My dilemma is: how can i let my biguns roam and keep the little ones safe? the big ones haven't been bothered by predators in a while, the rooster keeps them safe. However, my rooster hasn't taken the little ones under his wing yet. im hoping that a few days all locked up together will help this.

Any ideas how to fix my pen so that i can keep the younger ones in but let the older ones out???
