Hello! I have two hens in my snowy back yard and they will not stay in their pen. They keep coming over to the back porch at night to sleep and leave a mess everywhere..my mom is threatening to get rid of them if I can't keep them in their pen! Right now we have a medium sized coop with about a 3 foot high fence surrounding it. I can't imagine any way for them to get under the fence, so they must be flying over. I clipped their wings however, so how can this be possible? Any tips on what i can do to keep them in their own area?

A 3 foot fence ain't nuthin' to a chicken, even with clipped wings. Get some T-posts, six foot length, put 'em up along that fence and string chicken wire. It won't keep predators out, but it will keep most chickens in.

Other than that, it's concertina wire and armed guard posts.

Sorry to say, but a three foot high fence will never contain chickens. You need at least six feet high... and even then, you'd be better off putting wire over the top too. Mine can fly over a six foot fence. Good luck!
