Finally ran out of my stock pile of the real Strike 3 with real dewormer in it. I always liked to use it as an alternate in deworming our flock. I've seen fairly good reviews about the "natural" dewormer, and though I would never use it as a sole source of deworming our flock, we accidentally bought some on line, so we might as well use it, and I wondered what people think of it. One thing I noticed is that on the packaging it refers to the natural deworming ingredients as "flavor". What the heck does that mean? Are they in there or not?

Too bad, as I always found Strike 3 to be a very good dewormer for our medium sized flock, with no withdrawal. There's this:

"Hygromycin B (the active ingredient in Strike III) is currently (June 2016), the only USFDA approved wormer for laying hens who lay eggs for human consumption. While Hygromycin B is in the antibiotic category (mycin), it is not given as an antibiotic because it is absorbed too poorly by the body to be useful for that purpose. Rather, it stays in the gut. Years of Ag field studies and research shows it interferes with the metabolism of helminths (parasitic worms) thereby making it an ideal wormer for gut parasites in poultry. It addresses the 3 main types of chicken worms...cecal, capillary, and round."

Typical government BS. I did find a site that still sells it, (apparently) with a vet scrip....but I have doubts about my vet writing one.

So this product contains a lot of ingredients that have been used as natural wormers historically. So it could be a supplement that helps keep worm levels lower, but wouldn't actually treat a serious worm problem.

I suspect that the "flavor" part is just to cover their asses about the ingredients because it probably won't treat a serious worm infestation.

It wont treat worms at all, waste of money.
