How to keep feed cost down?

A 50 pound bag, of wheat seed, for $16, makes 100s of pounds of fodder, which they really like and is 80% nutritious vs 20-25% dry. Did I mention they REALLY like it and it's ridiculously easy.

How often do you feed this? Do you mix it with a formulated poultry feed or just give them wheat and then let them free-range for the rest?

You can reduce feed costs by fermenting your feed and supplementing with barley fodder which you sprout yourself.

Yep...I've got experience with fermented feed. It can cut your feed costs nearly in half, so that's a considerable savings. I've been doing it for over three years now and will never go back to feeding regular feeds. Makes too much sense to feed the fermented.
