Hello all! I had a terrible fox/dog attack on my flock, and I have three hens with terrible deep wounds. So far I have applied vetricyn spray and gave them antibiotics, but how do I keep the flies off my hens? I'm pretty certain they will bounce back but the flies are so bad right now I just don't know what to do. I'm pretty sure I can't put gauze on a hen.

Bringing them inside is best, but Swat ointment in the horse medicines, can help. Fly traps, and permethrin spray in the coop may help. Fly strike in wounds will kill with maggot infestation, so I would try bringing them inside for a few days to prevent this.

X 2 - either convalesce them indoors until the wounds are closed or apply swat to the wounds.
