My girls just dumped it and scattered it.

I also have a bucket fixed to the wall of the coop near the feeder. Minimal spillage. Also, even if they spill it, they are good at finding what they need on the ground.

I decided to stick with the laying feed, because whenever I offer my hens calcium they eat it all even though they don't need it, and then they go crazy with the calcium deposits-
