How to keep roosters from trees!

Okay I have a huge backyard with lots of trees. I've recently got a new rooster that my dad randomly took home by surprise, and the first thing that crazy bird did was fly to the trees. Colorado (my roosters name) comes down with food and when its time to sleep, but most of the day it stays in the trees!
Can someone please teach me to train this rooster to stay on the ground?

Trim his wings a bit, that might keep him down. How big is he? He has to be kind of light to make it up that far. My fat roo can even jump out of my barn door without making a work out over it lol

chickens like perching up high. the only way i can keep mine out of trouble is to clip their wings.
