How to know if your humidity's high

My chicken are in my incubator about day five and I'm scared that the humidity is to high or low how can i tell?

Do you have a calibrated hygrometer in your incubator to tell you the humidity level?

That's one important element.

At day 7, you can candle the eggs with a bright flashlight, and see if the air cells are at a good size for that stage of incubation. If they're too large, you need more humidity. If they're too small, you need less. Basically.

What Drewbkat said. These diagrams are not set in stone but a good guideline to ensure your eggs are losing enough moisture. The humidity in the incubator will decrease air cell growth when high. If you don't have a hygrometer or plan on getting one your best bet would be to incubate without any water and candle to ensure your on track. Add water on day 18 to prepare for hatching. If the cells are getting larger than you want add a little water to slow down the growth. I only use a shot glass full of water placed to the side of the egg turner. With that surface area of water I achieve 33% RH.
