How to let Buttons pick their mate.

i tried housing button in with my lovebird aviaries and it went horrible...brother had a parakeet not too long ago and i tried button in his cage too... ugly. then a cockateil, just as nasty to them as the lovebirds. for this matter i dont house buttons with "parrots" anymore. i put too much time into all of my birds from lovebirds to chickens to quail and dont need to loose any more birds.

Parrots can eye those buttons as food at times. My sun conure acted like a hawk last night as I opened a live bird box and a button pop corned out. Whoosh!!!

There was a story someone told me once with finches. Their button pair were really bald and they thought they were beating each other up. Well... The owner looked in the zebra finch nests and the nesting material was.... Button feathers!!!! So any bird can be vicious, you just have to watch closely for a compatible match.

So True! Any Mix of birds needs to be supervised!

These pink birds (Rosy Bourkes) are a grass keet. Very Sweet, docile birds! They spent a month with the Male already, I had gotten them all at the same time from a bird show. They sleep on the floor with the Male button even.
I have raised birds for years, and always watch mixes.
The silly Pink bird would not stay out of the picture! LOL! I got one out of 20 without him in it. ROFL!!!

I even had a Button bully large Coturnix.. The female in this thread..

Anyway...
The buttons are content, and I hope for eggs soon! From both pairs of birds actually. lol...
