how to lower incubator humidity

The first time i hatched eggs the incubator did fine, now the humidity wont stop going up to 77 and higher. I have it set to 40 and this is the first day this is happening i put them in on june 11 pls help i really dont know what to do and it keeps going up and up i dont want to drowned the eggs

What type of incubator do you have? I would pull the eggs for a few minutes, empty the incubator, and then read the eggs. See what the baseline humidity is because your house's air has a certain level which affects the incubator. Then add small amounts, trying to measure it.


So say you have to add a quarter cup twice a day, or alternatively, if you have the room for it depending on any turner apparatus, take a cap from, say, a medicine bottle, or a wider peanut butter cap, or whatever. The wider the surface area the more humidity, the faster it will evaporate.

I ended up cracking the bottom of my incubator with the side of my wallet and the humidity has stayed at 48 and the temp was stable all night and this morning. it has been super rainy so the humidity in our house is probably just high. Im super excited they look like they are developing well!
