how to lower the humidity in...

Do you have any water in it? If so just put a paper towel in it to soak it all up. You can take the red plugs out too. You really didn't give much info.

Open the lid for min. Then let it settle for a while check it and if still too high do again. Your hygrometer is calberated, right.

open plugs to let the 'juicy air' out so the humidity level will decrease soon.

but be aware for the temperature fluctuation that will occur caused by that action.

try to minimize temperature swing too fast.

well, for the calibration, several years ago, I did read about it, for humidity, I did wrap my thermohygrometer with wet towel, if your thermohygro get above 90%, it means your thermohygro show real humidity, but if it's lower, it seems like you need a better/new thermohygro.

for the temp, honestly I;ve never calibrate mine, I just buy thermometer and compare it with my thermohygro result.

that's my experience dealing with thermohygrometer... I'm sorry for any mistake.. although I hope I don't make any.. :D

To verify a Hygrometer is right on its reading you can get a large zip lock bag, a shot glass, and a shaker of non iodized salt. Then fill the shot glass with the salt and add just enough water to wet all of the salt in the shot glass( No water floating above the salt). Take the hygrometer and place it inside the zip lock bag. Also sit the shot glass with the damp salt inside the zip lock bag. Close the bag with your Hygrometer and shot glass inside and Zip baggy shut. Leave the hygrometer in the bag for at least 10 hours and the reading should say 75% . if reading reads 65% then always remember you have to take the reading and add 10% to whatever it reads. Check this out on Youtube.
