how to maintain temp??

Usually my temp stays at 37.7, but when I open the bator to either add/remove water or candle eggs it climbs up to 39 when I close it!! I usually just open the bator again for a few seconds and it MIGHT adjust itself, surely theres a better way!? I certainly can't be doing this at day 18!!

It depends on how good your incubator is to self adjust. If the temp spikes for a few seconds before it starts to level out, it's not a big deal. The egg takes awhile before the center adjusts to temp changes.
As far as reducing the need to lift the lid, one of my incubators doesn't have a humidity pump for it, so to add water i remove one of the vent plugs on the lid. I have a 5ml needleless syringe I got at the farm store. A fishtank airline fits perfectly over the end of the syringe. I thread the airline thru the vent plug to add water to the incubator. With just the vent plug out for a few seconds, it doesn't change my temp or humidity and I don't have to lift the lid.

Usually the temp never goes down, like right now when I've just added water it went up to 39.6! also my humidity drastically dropped to %25!! I have no water in there and when I added just a drop it hiked to %70!! what the heck am I doing wrong?!

I'm not sure what the issue is, but I turn off my incubator before i open it. If you leave it running, and remove the lid, it will naturally try and compensate for a loss in temperature. Thus, when your replace the lid, it's been pumping out higher temps, and maybe that's a possible cause

I've tried turning it off when I take the lid off but it doesn't make a difference

If it's only going up to 39c and no higher, then it should not be too much of an issue. Temp fluctuations have less effect, as the embryo develops, i.e. the older it is.

If you check the Brinsea website, there's a chart showing what implications temp fluctuations are likely to have

Okay, the temp seems to be adjusting itself now, but now the humidity is way to high at 62%. but the question is why is the humidity so high when there's hardly any water in there?? and why does it sometimes drop so drastically? Thinking I might need to get a hygrometer, my digital reader on the incubator may be really inaccurate...

Thanks for the fishtank airline idea, I can feed it directly into my channels and hopefully it will mean I will rarely have to take off the lid!
