I have a chicken whos really sick and I dont think she will make it. Ive been trying to feed her and give her water, but today she wont eat. She'll drink water, but not eat anymore. She closed her eyes and she cannot stand anymore. Is there any way I can make her comfortable until she dies? Should I leave her with her chicken friends in the coop or put her in a dark and secluded area? I really want her to be comfortable and not stressed out. I put her in

I think about a week, we’ve been concerned about cats and prey birds around our area since we’ve been losing chickens to them, we noticed her sick a couple of days ago, barely eating and drinking. Two days ago though, we saw her drink and though maybe she was sick for a bit, like a cold. But yesterday she was in a corner and could not walk. She was very limp. I gave her wet feed and some warm water with a bit of electrolytes (the packets you give to chicks). I thought she would be fine yesterday, but today, she won’t eat. I’ve wetted her food again and she can’t eat. I’ve given her water with electrolytes and some Tylan 200 orally. She’s very skinny. She’s pooping, I’ll send a picture of it. She is not laying.

From reading through the diseases and checking around my chicken, I think she has bumble foot. There is a black plug on her foot and she is very limp. I think I will have to euthanize her because she's probably in pain. Thank you for answering though, I'll have to check all of my chickens feet to make sure theyre okay.

Bumble foot can be fairly easy to treat. I would suggest trying to help her, or at least figuring out the extent of it, before culling.

In the article, it says that I should try to take it out and clean the wound. But Ive done this around a year ago. I remember taking out the plug from a chicken and cleaning it up. She was fine for a bit, but now shes really sick and possibly in the late stages of the infection. Ill give her some raw egg yolk and try to take the plug out and treat it. Hopefully it helps

When i need to make a bird comfortable, i take a cat carrier, put lots of clean towels there and let her stay somewhere dark and warm. I feed and water when theyre awake and take it away when they sleep so they don't drown by accident
