how to make a hen go broody?

I want chicks and a lady down the street sells a dozen eggs for 3 bucks she says they are most likely fertilized she has 3 roosters how do i make one of my three hens go broody?

I don't think that going broody is something that you can just "make" your hens do. I think they decide to do it on their own and it is usually specific breeds that go broody more often than others.

there is no way to make a hen go broody but you can incourage her by providing nestboxes in darkened areas in the coop and leaving the eggs for her to set. remember that no all hens go broody and some more than others, how old are they and what kind?

It worked! i put a dozen fertial eggs in their favorite nest spot and this morning i had one of my barred rocks sitting there squakn at me to leave the nest alone i picked her up and there was four extra eggs and i only have two girls who lay i have never had them lay that much at once but then i got pecked real good in the arm and my girls have never bit me soo maybe happy trails for some new babies because my mom wants chickens so my girls might hatch some... problem is my two barred rocks are sisters and if you watch them its like they both are trying to be mamas to the eggs one is sitting half on her sister who is sitting on the eggs
