how to make a safe place for mallard nest??

My mallard has made yet another nest Seems like something always gets her eggs. One other mallard had a nest but she was killed about a week before they were to hatch....I put them in an incubator and 5 hatched. Now i am worried about this other nest. She is in a good place behind a little wall where my "Mary" statue is.....any suggestions as how to block it up for her at night so no harm comes to her or the eggs????? please help!

If you can, I would put up some hardware cloth around her nest so nothing can grab through the wire. Good luck.
