How to make my coop safe from Predators!!!

Hello I was wondering if anyone can help me make my chicken coop safe from predator. I have not had any of my chicken missing yet thank god but I do have I think a big mouse or a rat problem in there cause the past couple of nite I have gone to put my chickens up for the night there has been one in the coop If anyone can let me know what I can do to get rid of them and to make it safe so they meaning the rat or very large mouse to not go in my coop and in case any other predator come around my house at night I would appretiate the help and if is safe to put rat posion under the coop my chicken can not get under the coop I have 24 baby chicks that I have in the house that will be going out there most likely at the end of next month so I want to make it safe for them as well so if anyone can help PLEASE!!!!! I am having a hard time sleeping at night know that there is something in with my chicken I love my chicken and I don't want anything to happend to them

HEY! Take several pictures of your coop, and load them up here so we can see.

Find the holes where the rats are getting in. THEY WILL EAT BABIES! Board over those holes. Put hardware cloth around the bottom of the coop if you have it up. IF it sits on the ground, you may have to dig out a bit, bury the cloth in like a skirt... BUT, you need to find the holes in the coop and secure them.
 
thank you for the help and yes my coop does sit on the ground and there a hole in the front of the coop where can I find hardwhere cloth and can the rat chrew through it and can i put some rat poison under where the rat are
