How to make my hens roost??

Hi all, i have had my hens for about 6 months now, they would be about 8 months old though. At first i just let them sleep in their nesting boxes, but now one of them has gone broody, so i made them all some roosts, but now i dont know how to make them roost, for they have slept in the boxes for the last 6 months? All help is gratefully recieved. Thankyou

Make sure your roosts are higher than your nest boxes or they will never use them. Chickens don't like to break their routine so you are going to have to make them. I would block off the nesting boxes each night. Put them on the roost the first night. Block off the boxes each night until they have roosted for at least a week then see how it goes.

Do you have silkies? Silkies don't usually roost.
