I have a rooster who sleeps in the coop and 1 ameraucana and 2 Barred rock roosters who sleep outside. I am getting rid of the rooster who sleeps in the coop and the ameraucana and barred rock. I don't know how I should make the barred rock rooster sleep in the coop not outside?

Very easy. Catch them and place them inside the coop. Close the door for 3 weeks. After that, they will get used to sleep inside the coop. Even when turning loose, they will get back to the coop at nightfall. Good luck.

I don't know if he needs to be locked in for 3 weeks, I think after a few days he should get the idea. If he resists capture because he doesn't want to go to the coop, you might want to give him a small treat inside to show him it's not a bad experience.

I've only read of people locking a chicken/rooster in the coop for 3 days to help them see the coop as home, I think 3 weeks might be a bit unnecessary. Welcome to the site and best of luck!

My hens came out of a tree after years of perching there at nights - after three days and some coaxing in the evemings, they are all perching safely in their new house all by themselves !!! Clever girls !
