What was once a hobby has turned into an obsession and a small business. I've decided I want to mainly focus on selling marans and a few rare breeds eggs for hatching and keep my brs and rir for eatin eggs. I have a high demand for them. I'm about 5 dozen behind so I know I don't want to get rid of them. But I would love to make 2 pens into one and put my br and rir in together. But I'm worried about the roosters. My brs are just now crowing and my rir is about 2 years old so he os top dog. And I don't want him to kill the br rooster. Right now my br rooster is in a pen with about 7 other roosters with no problems but I know my rir wouldn't be that easy. And it wouldn't feel right to me to make 2 small holding pens just bigger enough for the roosters to stand like some locals have suggested. Would I need to just make sure all spurs were clipped and let them fight and work it out and just keep an eye on them and make sure it doesn't go to far. I care about the health and safety of all my bird so I don't want a roo to be scared up.

Not sure if you can actually "make" them live together. I had 2 roos that established themselves and actually work well together, but the youngins from last fall are way to fiesty and cause stress for everyone with their fighting. I think most people use seperate pens for the roos, and their flocks.

I once saw a show on PBS where the farmer kept a few roosters. He enjoyed their coloring and personalities. To keep them from fighting, he chained each one to a private "A" FRAME tractor/coop. The place was a crowing disaster for neighbors!
