how to make your chicken lay eggs faster

I have 5 chickens 3 just turned 5 months 1 will turn 5 months on the 12 and one just turned 4 months on the 2. Anyway all the chickens that turned 4 months last month started laying at 4 months. I think this is because we gave them vitamin water in their first two weeks and then chick feed for the first 4 months of having them and then went to chicken feed. I think it caused them to begin to lay eggs faster. What do you think?

I think that it's likely that they were just ready to lay sooner. There are a lot of factors involved in when birds start to lay, but I don't think that adding electrolytes to their water when they were chicks would have any significant impact, although it wouldn't hurt.

What breed of bird?
Not unusual for sexlinks and hybrids to start laying at 16 weeks.

The three were sex links but one was I think Arecauna but maybe americana

I have a variety in my flock (buff, ee's, wyandottes and Ameraucanas) and they all range from four months to almost 6.5 and I'm still waiting! Hope yours come soon. I can't wait.

The blunt reality is they will lay when they are ready to lay, it's not some set in stone time period...

If you provide them with a low stress and comfortable environment, a nutritionally balanced diet and the proper amount of light they should lay when they are ready...

hi i am new to this but i will try my best!

i have my own flock but recently they have stopped lay and i am getting 6 eggs a day of of 30 chickens and i dont know why they arent laying.
they allways have food and clean fresh water and oystershell grit but they arent laying i also let them free range around the place and i have found that some of the chickens are laying away but i collect there eggs everyday but i still only get little amounts of eggs every day! is there anyway that helps them lay a bit better.

also there eggs are dirty when i get them out of the nest box and the nest box is clean and some people have sad that it me4ans that they need worming.is that ture?

You did not say how old your birds are. Assuming they are of laying age, and you have 30 birds, but only getting 6 eggs, something is off. I do not have a lot to go on based on what you stated.

This is just a guess: If they are free ranging highly suspect they are laying where they range instead of the nesting boxes you have provided for them. Check outside the coop. Heck, you might need to follow one around until you see her lay.
I have noticed that some birds, once they start lay in a place they feel safe and secure, they will continue to do so in the same place over and over. Some of my previous birds have only laid their eggs in only one of the several boxes I provided for them. I have 6 boxes: 3 over three design. My seabright, which lays small eggs has only laid in my "bottom left box" in the last 5 years I have had her. My easter egger has only laid in the top right - I know this because she is the only one that lays "green" eggs. Never anywhere else. I suspect that there is a cash of eggs somewhere in your yard - unless something is eating them at night.

Like I said... just my guess. If you can dedicate a morning to watching them closely for a few hours, pick three or four hens and do not let those birds out of your sight for more than 2-3 minutes. If one goes in the coop and lays, you can eliminate that one and follow another.

They are about 6 month old and earlyier on in the year they were laying so I aren't sure why that have stopped.
I am only 12 and I aren't well up in my chicken knowalodge and that is why I have come here!


I have tried to watch one chicken each day but they all crowd around thinking that irt is there treat that they get once a day wether it will be a piece of bread or a piece of what ever is in the kitchen.

Or is there any type of way that I can help my chickens lay?
