Hi all!
I have had a new coop built for my 5 silkies. I need to move them over to it, but am getting conflicting advice. I've heard I should move the chickens at night, put them in the new coop and let them stay in it for 3 days so they get used to that being their new home. Is that true?

The temperatures here are high 70s, low 80s, so I'm hesitant to put them in the new coop (it is in the shade) for fear they will get too hot. I need to move them out of the peacock pen.

The silkies will still be able to see their old shed/coop, but now it is all separated so the peacocks can't get to the chickens and vice versa.

How would you suggest I introduce the chickens to the new coop, and how long to keep them in there so they know it is their new 'home'? I'm going to put some of their eggs into their new nesting box area, so that might help them 'get it'.

Thanks!

If you used a heat lamp when they were chicks, I'm sure they will be fine. Just let them outside a lot to cool off, make sure they drink water each day, and they will be perfectly fine.
