How to Peel Chicken Feet?

Thinking of Seed’s thread, you could start a new Texas tradition, chicken feet gumbo.

Bay, if I follow the timing right, you should have tried peeling the feet on those last ones after we told you to not boil them that long. Have you tried scalding them for just a few seconds? How’d it go?

Ridgerunner, we butchered 10 roosters and I just bagged up the feet, they are in the freezer for now. We've been busy and I'll do them later. My husband is having shoulder replacement surgery the 26th of this month, so we are trying to get some things done before hand. Once he has surgery, it will be pain, pain and more pain for awhile followed by months of physical therapy. I'm just glad to have them all gone!

Oh, so you did not peel them. That will be interesting to see how that goes when you thaw them. There’s a chance you may not even need to scald them, like tomatoes when frozen. You’re treading on new ground here.

I understand about getting things done before a deadline, it’s pressure. I’ve had relatives and friends get knees and hips, no shoulders I can recall. Most of them said it went a lot better than they expected but one knee had complications. The physical therapy is a pain, but necessary. Sure wish your husband luck.
