so i've got a new baby chick...and i'm trying to make her more of a "pet," than the rest of my flock, but it seems like every time I bring "tulula bell," inside the house -- she lets loose a
MASSIVE godforsaken blast of glutinous poo all over my shoulder!

as if she's saved up the entire day's feces and let slip the dogs of war - purposely - on ME

of course, i know this isn't true.
although i might be fostering something unintentionally.
a "trigger," if you will...

anywho...is there any way to stop this?

can we train her to poop outside with a spray bottle?
is there a way to squeeze the poop out before she comes in?
perhaps a soak in warm water to stimulate her innards?
diapers? (i've heard rumors of this)

ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT
-she's got the potential to make a great little pet--unfortunately she's also got the potential to soak half my shirt with her rectal secretions.

The training may work - - - I would use motivation as opposed to punishment though...

Exactly what I thought before I took the picture - - - the look on her face was priceless, she stood like that for a whole minute, going "WHAT have you done to me??!!"

you can't train a chicken to poop on comand... from what i understand, they lack the muscles that allow them to stop the tracks....

i was reading a post somewhere about a woman who kept bantie in the house as pets, and she would remove any food source from the cage an hour before their play time and never had a problem with poopy floors...

might be a bit harder to do if they're freeranging outdoors before you bring them in.. but it's a thought...

Thank you thank you thank you! I was having a rough night at work, and now I've forgotten all about it, because you want to squeeze poop out of a chicken! It's probably not even that funny, but I can't get over it.

I know my chickies like to splurt one out when I pick them up, so I handle them a bit (armed w/ tissues) before I set them down in the couch or wherever I'm hanging out.
