The house we bought in November has an existing coop and we just got 6 RIR's and 5 Barred Rocks. The coop last had chickens in it last August or the beginning of September. It has a wood floor and 8 nesting boxes. I will post some pictures tomorrow along with the dimensions. What do I need to do to prepare the coop for new birds? Since these are our first chickens, it would be safe to assume my wife and I do not know much about chickens and their coops.

Remove any old bedding and add plenty of new pine chips to the floor and nest boxes. A hanging feeder and water container and you are good to go... New chicks should be in a brooder up to about 6 weeks of age. Then they can go to the coop.

Still working on the pictures. The coop was cleaned of all pine shavings/straw, almost all of the poop has been scraped off, and it has a hanging feeder and water container. Do I need to scrub it down or disinfect it? It has been empty since the end of August or beginning of September.
