How to prevent hawk attacks?

I have seen Hawks or Eagles in the sky above my yard. Some of them don't look very big but I think they're big enough to get my chickens. I have seen the crows trying to chase them away.

Would planting trees stop them from seeing my chickens? I really want to prevent them coming because I know if they find my chooks they'll come back for more.

planting trees would be great if they are free range, but if they are in a run, i would put a type of netting over the top or string fishing line all around...a hawk shouldn't swoop down if they see the glint if the line blocking their path.

That looks like a great coop idea aart but they're free range. The guineas are meant to protect them but honestly the guineas protect themselves and don't care about the chickens.

having a large breed rooster will help to protect them too...a good roo will lay his life down to protect his hens.

I've heard that too. But I know I would love that roo too much to let him die for his hens. I'd love to get one but that would mean getting more hens for him as I only have bantam silkies (and the silkie roo can't protect them much as he can barely see with his big comb thing and all he does is squash his little hens when he mates them.

Free range eventually = dead chickens .....why I keep mine in a meshed topped run, tooo many hawks around here, as shown.

lol, yeah, a silkie would not be too good with a large roo. i know what you mean about falling in love with the roo...they are all really cool
