thank you. i had some mice getting into my duck house, and everyone kept saying, kill them. they wouldn't even eat the eggs, or hurt the ducks! they were just trying to stay warm during the winter. i didn't care. they were no threat. but, if anything kills or injures my ducks, i'm not going to let it keep living. it will know about the ducks, and will keep trying to get to its new favorite food source. i never thought i would feel this way, but as soon as i saw slushie in so much pain, i felt the need to kill whatever did that to her, and kill it now. chubby and slushie did not deserve what happened to them. they were my babies.
plus, weasels are getting over-populated here we are guessing. they ran out of rodents to eat, so they turned to our ducks eggs. when slushie protected them, it removed the obstacle. after researching weasels, we have realized we have seen them before, but we didn't think they were weasels.'
as for fort knox, i'm looking into heavy duty sheds and i will be re-enforcing their pen with mess, then more chicken wire, then a heavy gauge wire. that i hope will keep anything out. i will also be getting a lock for the shed and it will be off the ground, and underneath it will be fenced off as well. i don't care how much i have to spend, i'm getting my ducks safe again.
