How to prouce rich eggs

Our chicken eggs are good but not as rich as others i have had. Does richness come with age, breed, diet??? We have Red Sex Links and Buff Orphingtons and I don't notice a difference in flavor between the breeds.

Any thoughts?

Do they access to grass, rich green grass, bugs and other things such as that? Sometimes our range land is simply rather sterile and this does indeed effect the richness of the egg yolks. I do soak alfalfa pellets and mix them in the mash during such times. It helps.

Thank you, I bet that is the problem. We let our chickens out daily but not for very long. We are afraid to leave them out while we go to work incase they venture out to the road. They love the alfalfa in our pasture but I doubt they get enough to make a difference. I will definately try the alfalfa pellets.
