I need tips I have a 4 week old chick that was in isolation with Mama, only hatch and Mama lost interest so pulled the chick for her only safety. Tiny chick and while almost feather out all the way in juvenile feathers, still has fluff on head and slightly bald under the wings. She isn't safe going out into the yard with everyone else.

she is fine as long I am with her but stresses out when put in the make shift brooder, little comb becomes all flushed and then takes forever to go down.

So any suggestions other then going and getting another chick for company to help her not stress?

Try a heating pad draped over a wire frame, maximum three inches high. The chick will snuggle under it like it was the broody mama. It may complain, but it should feel less stress being able to get under cover of something warm and close. See "Mama heating-pad in the Brooder" thread on this forum.

Is there any way you can add two or three more baby chicks for company?

Not really my dad would kill me if I brought in more chickens then this one. Wish I could have more!

I guess I should clarify I'm taking this chick on for a friend only Topaz is allowed in house. I kept a house chicken before but I got the chick much older. Thought I'd be chick napping a month from now so I was a bit unprepared. She didn't have the time to deal with it and offered it to me. I keep horses out where this chick hatched. Mama was't suppose to hatch any eggs then but she hid this one from the lady. Discovered how it happen they'll sit two to a nesting box.

But thank you for the rec I'll get it all set up ASAP.
