Hello Chicken Friends,

I am hatching mail order eggs. I'm 6 days in and just recognized a small dent (looks like a tiny pip) in one of the eggs. I candled the egg and it is developing fine. I'm wondering if I need to address the "dent," or just leave it and see what happens. I've read about melting wax (crayons?) over cracks, and even putting scotch tape over cracks. Should I try such a technique. And can I use candle wax rather than the crayons I've read about?

Any experience or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I found a pure beeswax candle and a paint brush, then I painted small dots of wax over the dents. I hope this keeps the bacteria out, as I tried to candle my 7 eggs this morning (day 7) and due to the blueness of the shells (they're Crested Cream Legbars), I can only tell for certain that two of them are developing. This is one of the two! Of course. :\
